Who are we?

Společnost pro projektové řízení (SPŘ) is a non-profit organization of businesses and individuals involved in project management. It is a member association of IPMA (International Project Management Association).

Our mission

The primary role of SPŘ is to promote project management as a distinct profession with a global agency and standards of its own as well as specific knowledge and abilities. It connects project managers across all fields of human activity.

What is project management?

Project management is a method of planning and implementation of complex usually one-off events which need to take place within a set deadline and within planned costs so that the set objectives are achieved. Project management can also be briefly characterized as effective and efficient implementation of significant change.

The object of project management is a project, understood as a unique process of coordinated activities undertaken between the start and finish dates to achieve an objective and meeting specified requirements in terms of costs and resources (ČSN / ISO 10 006).

The goal of project management is to plan and implement a successful project, i.e. to achieve project objectives within scheduled time and at planned costs, the project implementation leading to no negative responses.

Delivering project outputs causes change. Change usually cannot be made directly but the assumption is that it will be brought about by implementing the project.

Project management is based on the knowledge that if the scope, atypicality, complexity and risk level of a project surpass a certain limit, adequate methods of management must be used.

To increase the chances of success, project management draws on a range of methods. These are proven standardized procedures addressing the project proposal and project implementation.

Project management relies on quality work of a project team led by an experienced manager. The project manager as well as other members of the project team evidence their qualification by presenting a project management certificate.

What is NOT project management?

Project management is not improvising combined with reliance on good luck and trial and error.

The fact that we call an event a project even though it does not have the requisite attributes and even though it is not managed using project management principles does not make it a project.

Project management is hard to apply in environments where chaos and ignorance prevail and people act on the basis of mainly individualistic attitudes reflecting their personal interests.
